Noses Are Red! Here's another great routine from Geoff Lucas Required 3 x 4" sponge balls-yellow,green, black and, of course, the red nose. Squeeker, a production item for the noses (Change Bag will do or Merry Switch Can.) Cut a slit in the sponge balls so they fit on your nose.
Load red ball/nose first - then the other 3 noses in any order into production device/change bag.
Set up: Have circus tent in front of clown-but dont have nose on clowns face. Clown just has a hole in his face with no nose.
After asking the kids if they have been to the circus i ask what they liked best-toffee apples? candy floss? popcorn? Animals? Clowns? I say I love Elephants -but I couldn`t eat a whole one. Introduce tent - tell them Sparky the clown is behind the tent - he is frightened to come out because he has forgotten something. Ask them not to laugh - go to take tent away - then ask them again not to laugh - keep hamming this up - eventually take tent away and show clown has no nose. Kids will laugh. Ask them what colour nose does he need - they shout out red. Tell them you will magic a red nose - lay down tent on table.
Get production bag/device - show empty. Secrete squeeker in your hand (or have it in bag already). Kids call out magic words etc - you go to reach in bag but withdraw it quickly squeeking as you do so - do that couple of times, then produce yellow ball/nose - ask if its the right colour etc. Now for the funny bit - tell kids you are going to try the nose on but they must not laugh. Hold up tent in front of you - place nose on and slowly lower the tent. The kids will howl with laughter - you look around to the left and right - it's hilarious. Say - you promised me you wouldn`t laugh etc. Pop nose onto clown and ask kids if that is ok - they say no it's got to be red. Now do same thing each time with other coloured balls/noses. Eventually find red nose - try it on, looks great. Say you will vanish it by magic - cover clown Sparky with tent - but dont set gimmick yet! Vanish red nose (Merry Switch Can or Change Bag). Take tent away and don't look at clown - kids will tell you nose is not there. Double take etc. Now place tent back and set gimmick. Get all of them to wiggle their fingers etc. and take tent away showing clown Sparky complete with red nose. A great prop - very colourful - plays for 8 - 10mins. Give it a go. Regards Geoff
