And here's another routine for this prop. This time, we have a story-orientated routine. By Philip Tilston Requirements: Square-Circle box prop
Story: Let me tell you a story about William. He was a little boy..... about your age. His father was a wizard. However, he was often so busy doing his wizarding that he didn't spend much time with William. As well as this, William was very lonely as he didn't have any friends. They lived in a cave in a big hill which was surrounded by desert. One day when his father was out wizarding, William decided to go out and find himself a friend. He didn't know if it might be dangerous, so he decided to take with him his fathers magic box [bring out the box] and one of his spare wands [bring out the wand]. He walked out of the cave, and looked around. All he could see was the desert for miles and miles, and he didn't know which way to go. Do you know what he did? No? Well he took off his shoe, threw it in the air and started walking in the direction it pointed. Do you know about trolls? [audience response] What do you know about trolls? [audience response] Well let me tell you the three most important things about trolls. One, they are very stupid. Two they smell - in fact they smell of rotting fish and strawberry jam. Third they eat little children. William thought very quick and he looked in the box [show boxes empty] waved the wand over the box, made a wish and said the magic word. Do you know what the magic word is? [audience response] No it's not any of those words, the magic word is KAZAM. Every time you make a wish you need to say the magic word. When I wave the wand over the box, lets all say the magic word like William. [wave the wand over the box saying "what was the magic word?" When they say KAZAM, reply, no no he said it louder than that. try again. audience response] . Then William reached into the box and pulled out coloured silks [produce silks of different colours]. He put them over his head and stood still. The trolls looked right at him, and you know what? They thought it was a rainbow and just walked on by. I told you they were stupid! After he heard the trolls dissappear in to the distance, William came out from under the silks. By now he was very hungry. He looked in the box [show boxes empty] waved the wand over the box, made a wish and said the magic word [get audience to say/shout KAZAM. Reach into the square-cricle and take out the sweets/chocolate bar]. He ate the sweets and wasn't hungry any more. Then he thought how stupid he had been. If all his wishes came true with the wand and the box, he would wish for a friend. He looked in the box [show boxes empty] waved the wand over the box, made a wish and said the magic word [get audience to say/shout KAZAM. Reach into the square-cricle and take out the toy]. And a small friend for him appeared - a baby rabbitt [or whatever toy animal it is] - a friend that would become his best friend ever. William took his new friend who he had named Ears - guess why (show rabbitt's ears) back to the cave. They were exhausted when they got there and they went to sleep, hugging each other. William and (his) Ears had many adventures together as they grew up, but those are stories for another day. |
