MISMADE SANTA SILKS Gary Dunn Sometimes small changes to a story can make all the difference to a trick. Below is a perfect example. Here’s the beginning of a story which will appear perfectly logical to a child’s mind. Begin by showing the hatless, beardless Santa silk. “Boys and girls, this is what Santa looks like in the summer when he’s on holiday: it’s too hot to wear a furry hat, and his beard would make him all scratchy. Besides, if he appeared on a beach looking like he does at Christmas, none of the boys and girls would leave him alone, would they?” “So this is how he looks. But, if you want to make him look like the Santa we all know, what’s he missing? That’s right, his hat. And here’s a picture of it. At the end, Gary, who has used one of the children as a helper, makes them a Paper to Santa Hat as a reward. |
